The Hangout Space - Youth & Young Adults

The Hangout Space is a place for socially motivated youth and young adults, to hang out, make new friends and engage in fun and inclusive activities.  It’s a space to develop new skills and explore areas of interest with other like minded people. The Hangout Space is a drop-in program for motivated youth on the autism spectrum or living with psychosocial, mental health and other neurodiverse disorders or disabilities:

·      Meet new people and engage in fun and meaningful activities
·      Explore areas of interest and try new things
·      Practice social skills with peers in a safe and inclusive environment
·      Plan your own get-togethers with like minded peers
·      Outdoor activities, sports, health and wellbeing groups
·      Understand and identify personal goals, strengths and abilities

Start date: Rolling start (10 week program through school terms / school holiday programs available)
Days and Times:
 Tuesdays - 4:30pm to 7:30pm / Saturdays - 9:30am to 12:30pm

Club Create - Youth and Young Adults

Our Club Create program provides a safe and inclusive environment for youth and young adults to engage in drama, performance and creative arts activities.  The program uses various modalities for participants to explore, experiment and experience a new way of learning core skills of self expression, confidence, communication, assertiveness, social skills and teamwork through theatre games, improvisation, movement, music, art, group work and storytelling.  The program runs on Thursdays from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.

This program is for motivated youth and young adults on the autism spectrum or living with psychosocial, mental health and other neurodiverse disorders or disabilities.

Start Date:  Rolling start (10 week program through school terms)
Days and Times: 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursdays at the Varsity Lakes Community Centre

PEERS Social Skills Group – Young Adults

PEERS for Young Adults (Ages 18-35) is a 12-week evidence-based social skills intervention for socially motivated young adults, who are interested in learning skills to make and keep friends and develop romantic relationships. During each group session, young adults are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills.

PEERS Social Skills Group is designed for Young Adults on the autism spectrum or living with psychosocial, mental health and other neurodiverse disorders or disabilities.

Dates and Times:  12:30pm to 2:30pm on Thursdays / 22 July 2021 to 07 Oct 2021 (12 Weeks)

Garden to Plate Social Group - Youth & Young Adults

Our Garden to Plate social program for youth and young adults sees participants engaging in growing their own veggies and herbs along with meal planning and cooking with the produce they grow.  The program has a combination of outcomes including social engagement, basic gardening and horticulture skills and life skills such as meal planning, cooking, budgeting, shopping and other social skills.  Spaces are limited in this group so please contact GenNow to be added to our waiting list.

Start date: Rolling start (10 week program through school terms)
Days and Times: 3:30pm to 5:30pm on Wednesdays at the Varsity Lakes Community Garden
