The Hangout Space - Youth & Young Adults

The Hangout Space is a place for socially motivated youth and young adults, to hang out, make new friends and engage in fun and inclusive activities.  It’s a space to develop new skills and explore areas of interest with other like minded people. The Hangout Space is a program for nuerodivergent youth and young adults and individuals with co-occurring social or behavioral differences.

Thursday Hub Hangs - Youth and Young Adults

Our Thursday Hub Hangs is a fun and inclusive group space for participants to connect with like minded peers and engage in multiple activities including creative arts and crafts, interactive strategy and board games, switch gaming, cooking, baking and other recreational activities. Social coaching by qualified staff is provided throughout the program and Hub Hangs is a great space to practice or learn social skills and develop social confidence. Hub Hangs is a program for nuerodivergent youth and young adults and individuals with co-occurring social or behavioral differences.

PEERS Social Skills Group – Youth and Young Adults

The PEERS program is an evidence based social skill intervention that supports and assists young people and young adults to build skills to develop and maintain friendships and engage confidently in social environments such as the workplace, groups, clubs or other social activities.  We host the program in small groups but, depending on a participant's needs, the skills can also be taught individually.  PEERS is a 10-12 week program running on Wednesdays from our Burleigh Heads Hub.

PEERS is the first globally recognised evidence based  program for nuerodivergent youth and young adults and individuals with co-occurring social or behavioral differences.

PEERS - Relationships and Dating - Youth and Young Adults

Relationships and Dating is a 10-12 week program that teaches young adults all there is to know about romantic relationships.  We cover topics from how to develop a romantic relationship and when to know your ready to communication skills, the do's and don'ts of dating, personal safety, your rights and developing respectful relationships.

Garden to Plate - Youth and Young Adults

Our Garden to Plate social program for youth and young adults sees participants engaging in growing their own veggies and herbs along with meal planning and cooking with the produce they grow.  The program has a combination of outcomes including social engagement, gardening, landscaping and horticulture skills and life skills such as meal planning, cooking, budgeting, shopping and other social skills.  We are currently taking referrals for this term's Garden to Plate program.

Gel Blast Battalion - Youth & Young Adults

The Gel Blast Battalion is a social group that meets one Sunday each month to participate in gel blasting activities at the NukeTown outdoor fields or Gel Soft Australia indoor fields.  The program is an exciting way for participants to get out, meet new people, exercise and engage in a fun and inclusive activity based around a shared interest of gel blasting. Costs include entry fee, food, drinks and transport on the day.

Wake, Slide, SUP and Glide - Youth and Young Adults

Our inclusive water sport program provides access to the GC Wake Park inclusive sessions where participants have access to multiple activities in a safe and fun environment.  Activities on offer include wakeboarding, kneeboarding, stand up paddle boarding and swimming.  All activities are supervised by qualified GC Wake Park staff and GenNow support staff.  Join us now to make the most out of your summer!

Streetball Group (Basketball) - Youth and Young Adults

Our streetball program is a weekly catch up for those who love basketball.  Each week participants meet at the Varsity Lakes undercover courts for skills development activities and social basketball games.  The program runs from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and some participants choose to go for a social meal after the games have ended.  Contact us now to register your interest for the program.

Cooking for Independence - Youth & Young Adults

This program is for participants who are looking to build on their independent living skills and focuses on meal planning, budgeting, shopping, meal preparation and cooking skills.  Participants leave the program each week with a variety of meals they have cooked to sustain them over the week and develop their own recipe book of familiar recipes they can replicate in their own homes.  The program runs weekly from our Burleigh Heads Hub.  Contact us now to register your interest for upcoming sessions.  Please note that spaces are limited.

Baking Group - Youth & Young Adults

This program is for participants who have a love for tasty treats, both naughty and nice, and are looking to build on their daily life and living skills. The program focuses on recipe planning, budgeting, shopping and cooking skills. Participants leave the program each week with a variety of treats they have cooked and develop their own recipe book of familiar recipes they can replicate in their own homes. School Leaver Employment Support / Employment Support Group

GenNow employment supports are individualised and can span over a 12 month period (up to 2 years if required).  Participants engage in a staged planning and implementation process that supports them to find and maintain employment. The process involves:

- Stage one: All about you!
- Stage two: Connect & Thrive Career Planning
- Stage Three: Time for Action
- Stage four: Engagement and ongoing support

GenNow SLES supports are delivered with a combination of 1:1 and group support to assist with social skill development, employability skills and other capacity building activities on their path to employment.  Activities vary for each participant depending on their employment goals, their capacity and pre-employment development plan.  Our group sessions run from our Burleigh Heads Hub and transport can be provided on request.

Live Action Role Play (LARPing) - Youth and Young Adults

Our group attends the Heroes Odyssey realm on  a weekly basis to engage in live action role play adventures. This social group is for participants who are keen to engage socially around the shared passion of fantasy, role playing and creative play.  Transport can be provided.

Vertical Voyagers Climbing Group - Youth & Young Adults

The Vertical Voyagers climbing group challenges you to step out of your comfort zone and into the world of bouldering.  The group provides physical and mental challenges through engaging in bouldering in a safe and inclusive environment.  Participate to your own level and achieve benefits of movement, fitness, socialising and fun across the multitude of challenges and routes to conquer. The group accesses the Core Climbing gym in Carrara on a Monday evening.

Project Cupid - Young Adults

Dating, relationships, love, romance, personal connections and intimacy are a fun and exciting space to explore as a young adult.  BUT… it can also be confusing and overwhelming.  Where do I meet people? How do I know if I’m ready to date? How do I talk to people I don’t know? How do I know they are right for me?  How do I keep myself safe?  

Project Cupid prepares you for the world of dating and provides a safe and inclusive space for differently abled young adults to meet and connect with other like minded peers looking for a romantic connection.  Project Cupid is for motivated young people to find meaningful friendships and romantic relationships.  Not only do we have a meet up space with structured speed dating activities but you are provided with a toolkit of resources for you to step confidently into the world of dating.  

We meet once a month at our Burleigh Heads hub for our speed dating meet up and access local venues for dinner and entertainment.

GenNow loves to take advantage of the amazing activities and events our local community offers! We host regular group programs that provide access to music concerts and festivals; theatre outings; movie events; car and motor sports events; sporting events; food, arts and  and culture; cosplay, Comicon and e-sports events and a range of other activities. Our holiday programs give participants a break from everyday life and the chance to try something they love or something new. Through safe and inclusive activities we provide social connection, fun, adventure, culture, nature, wellbeing and relaxation.
